Blush and Olive

Blush and Olive is one of my favorite color combos.  I am not afraid to mix a pattern or a bold color but there are just some color matches that sound like the hallelujah chorus is being sung.  This is one of those.  I am not sure if it is the nude undertones in blush that make it work or the drab shade of green but there is something about these two together that just make them better than they were apart.

This outfit came together in a very unintentional way and it wasn’t even on the long list of things to photograph for this month.  I purchased this romper in the Stella Dallas sale this summer and it was from last season.  A while later I found the Sanctuary vest on clearance at TJ MAxx when I was looking for a dress for Polo.  The necklace was what made me think of putting them together.  Abby and I were pulling outfits and styling for the shoot and she showed me this necklace.  I liked it immediately and wanted to use it but it wasn’t fitting into any of the outfits I had pulled.  We went shopping in my closet and bam this is what we came up with.

So the thing I really liked about this outfit combo besides the color is how functional this vest is with the romper.  What you don’t see in the picture is that this romper is backless.  Not something I would normally purchase because I don’t have a lot of opportunity to wear backless things.  However I had just purchased a lace bandeau and I was thinking that would work to give me some more coverage in the back.  With the addition of the vest I didn’t need to cover my bra straps.  I was also thinking that a fur vest would make it look pretty amazing too.

Booties were the perfect choice for this outfit and if the temps were a little lower I would throw on a nude fishnet or opaque tight.  Honesty this outfit is the perfect example of how to take something from night to day.
