I started doing Field Trip Friday a few years ago with the boys as a way to have something to look forward to each week. I would love to take them somewhere daily but the summer is long and I don’t have the budget to go to the zoo or a museum daily. It has become one of our most favorite things to do each summer.
Setting Friday aside also let me come up with a plan to have backup. My Mom comes with me most weeks so I knew I would have someone to help if we were navigating the city streets or a big park. Also, Justin is able to take off a Friday here and there so we get him to tag along too sometimes!
Each summer we come up with a list of places the boys want to visit on Fridays. They also usually make a list of places they want to eat. They have a lot of the same places from year to year like the zoo and aquarium but we always come up with some new ones too.
Field Trip Friday is a great way to explore your city or a city nearby. We have found so many little gems over the years.
