Welcome to the Sunday Skim. Your weekly recap of all things style, home, entertaining, family, community, travel and midlife.
Style. One question I get a lot is about how to wear a pencil skirt. They can be a little overwhelming because they are tight and fitted to the body. If your midsection is something you are a little nervous about it can be something you aren’t willing to try. They are a big trend for the fall so you will be seeing them in a lot of stores so I want to give you an option on a skirt that I fell in love with.
Eloquii has some amazing options in pencil skirts specifically made for curvy girls. They have three fits: Regular, petite and Viola. Viola is specifically made for ladies who have larger hips and a smaller waist. This makes wearing the pencil look a little easier because these skirts are designed to not cling to your mid section.
I recently got this skirt on clearance. Although the print is more summer than fall it had a few colors that worked with my fall wardrobe. I styled it with my Dancing Queen tee in the first so make something fun and casual and then used my Stella Dallas sweater for my fall look.
Home. Last year I was trying to come up with the perfect fall front porch. I made a Pinterest board of all of my ideas. Check it out here.
Entertaining. I love soup in the fall and one of my favorites is pumpkin. If you have never tried pumpkin soup it is so hearty and delicious and you can add chicken to it and its just perfection. Check out this recipe.
Family. Ok, so my kids love pancakes but then I am stuck in front of the stove for at least 20 minutes while everyone eats and my pancakes get cold. I love the idea of being able to make everyone pancakes all at once and everyone can pick different toppings. Check out this post.
Community. The NEW Louisiana Children’s Museum was open as of yesterday! Check them out in their new space because it looks absolutely amazing!
Travel. We booked another fun weekend get away in October. I came across this post for fun road trip games with printables. Check it out here.
XO,
Tippy
