The Sunday Skim – Spring 2019 – Fifty Nine

Welcome to the Sunday Skim. Your weekly recap of all things style, home, entertaining, family, midlife, community and shopping.

What’s Been Happening… I feel like I turned into summertime Tiffany this week. I was off my schedule, having fun and soaking up the sun. I usually spend the week before the kids get out of school running around finishing up last minute things but this year I sat back and relaxed and it was kind of refreshing. Everything is going to get done and if it doesn’t it’s going to be fine too. School was over on Thursday and we are full on ready for summer. It’s tan lines and freezie pops from here on out!

Style. I participated in the craziness that was the Vineyard Vines collaboration with Target. Insanity. I woke up Saturday morning and everything was sold out online. Bummer. Went to my local Target and they had a good selection of home, kids, men and women pieces. I got a few things for Justin and the kids but they didn’t have the plus in my store so nothing for mom.

I got the boys the patchwork shorts which I really love and think will get a lot of use out of them this summer. I styled them with this polo that was also from the VV collab but plan to put them with chambray buttons downs too. Love the colors and the pattern on these.

Home. It’s hot. Like real hot already. Every year summer slaps me in the face and I say, was it this hot last year at this time? Chances are yes it was. I feel like the first place I notice the heat is in the kitchen and cooking in the oven becomes unbearable. I found a good list for dinners that don’t need to go in the oven here.

Entertaining. Cute summer centerpiece!

Family. This is a New Years Eve activity but I love the idea of doing this with my kids. I feel like they ask for a lot of thing whether it is to go to the movies or for a new toy. They are usually good about hearing no but I think it would be a good way for them to see all of the things they have asked for and also have a list of things they would like to do. Either way this is a cute concept.

Midlife. Last summer it was almost impossible for me to get a good gym schedule. I kept trying and I just couldn’t get any momentum. I have a better plan for this year but if it falls through I have some backup workouts I can do from home. Check this one out for butts and guts!

Community. Looking for something to do next weekend? The Southern Hotel in Covington is hosting a Bon Temps Relay for their 5th anniversary. Check it out here.

Shopping. If you are on the hunt for anything home décor this weekend this is a great list of sales that are currently happening.
