The Sunday Skim – Winter 2019 – Forty Five

Welcome to the Sunday Skim.  This is your weekly recap of all things style, home, entertaining, family, midlife, community and shopping!

What’s Been Happening.  The kids went back to school this week.  The peak was having our schedule back (we thrive on a schedule) and the pit was having to set alarm clocks again.  I really do struggle with loving being on a schedule but loving the freedom of not being on one.  The boys were happy to be back with their friends and Porter was happy to have me all to himself!

Style.  Jumpsuits with a bold pattern can be fun but overwhelm some people on how you should style it.  I recently purchased this leopard print jumpsuit at Express on a major sale.  Not a place I typically shop I took a risk and thought I may be able to find some interesting ways to style it.  {This post contains affiliate links.  All thoughts, opinions and ideas are mine}

Home.  We made the change from Christmas to Mardi Gras with the mantle and tree last weekend.  This week I took some time to work on my coffee table tray.  I have a method to the way I arrange my tray.  I like to add low, wide objects as well and a few things to add height and then a few layered pieces.  Here is my process.

Entertaining.  Planning on having a Super Bowl party at your house?  This is the most epic chili bar that would be easy, fun and you could make as high end as you wanted.

Family.  We are trying to make Friday nights game nights or movie nights with the kids. It’s such a fun way to end the week plus it is dedicated family time.  I found this list on Pinterest with 100 things for families to do together.  Lots of great ideas!

Midlife.  January is National Cervical Health Month.  Nurse Nikki had some excellent information this week about the importance of your cervical health and how often you should be getting a pap smear for your age.  Nurse Nikki is an advocate of women and women’s reproductive health.  You can visit her website here or follow her on Facebook here.

Community.  Have you ever thought about taking a cooking class?  I am going to my first one on Tuesday night with Simplee Gourmet in Covington.  They are doing a cast iron class and I cannot wait to discover more ways to use my cast iron other than for cooking steaks.  If you are interested in attending here is the event.

Shopping.  It’s sale time!  Everyone is clearing out the winter merchandise to make room for the spring.  Check out Anthropologie is doing 50% off the sale price this week.
