Welcome to the Sunday Skim your weekly recap of all things fashion, family, food and drink, health, social, news. lifestyle, home and beauty. Sit back and grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the Sunday Skim.
Fashion. Are you ready for the shopping weekend that is Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday? We are planning events for all three to bring you all of the sales and all of the deals. RSVP to the events so you can get all of the updates. We are especially working closely with LOFT and they have some really exciting things in store!
Family. I love these precious little placemats for Thanksgiving. I saw some recently at Target but these are even better because you can print them yourself. Check them out here.
Food and Drink. I never really had made squash before last year. I don’t know why because we love sweet potatoes but squash was something I was slightly intimidated to cook. First of all it can be hard to cut and get ready to cook depending on the type of squash you are cooking. Places like Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods have precut squash which makes the entire process easier. This recipe is delicious and a great Thanksgiving side item. I usually omit the cranberries and add a little spice instead. There is nothing more delicious that a sweet and spicy dish. Another option is to omit the maple syrup and add balsamic vinegar.
Health. Staying healthy during the holidays is not always easy. I decided not to drink for the month of November to try to detox my body from some of the over indulging I have been doing. The holidays that I have been the mist successful with my health goals are the ones where I make a plan when and where I will indulge. It is hard to not just throw in the towel for all of December when you don’t have a plan. Look at your calendar and decide when you want to eat or drink a little more and then be tight all the other days of the month. Another tip is if you want to stay strong throughout the holidays offer to bring a dish that you know you can eat to the events that you attend. Win Win!
Social. Are you looking for something fun to do to kick off the holidays? Do not miss out on Northshore Parent’s Sweets with Santa on November 25th. Tickets are still available but these events typically sell out so do not miss your chance!
News. This is such an exciting time to see women gaining rank in politics.
Lifestyle. The beginning of the year always brings resolutions and goals to have a better year. I really like making plans in January for my home and for my family to work harder or focus on something new. I loved this 30 day minimalism challenge that may come in handy if you are looking to cut back in 2019.
Home. I like to think that my home feels homey to my guests. Especially when I have guests for the weekend. I loved this list of things that can make the perfect guest room!
Beauty. I had the opportunity to try Neutrogena Hydro Boost this week and I was really impressed how hydrating the product is while not being greasy. The Hydro Boost line uses hyaluronic acid which is able to carry up to 1000x it’s weight in water. The product absorbed quickly and is really helping me with some of those itchy dry spots I have on my legs. {I received products from Neutrogena for free. All thoughts and opinions are mine.}
XO,
Tippy
