Welcome to the Sunday Skim! Your weekly recap of all things fashion, family, food and drink, health, news, social, lifestyle, home and beauty. Sit back and relax and enjoy the Sunday Skim.
Fashion… ASOS is having their up to 70% off sale and it’s a great time to grab some cute dresses and rompers. I have had my eye on this dress for a while and it FINALLY went on sale and I grabbed it.
Family… I am doing my best to keep the oven off, doors closed and kids busy this summer. I mean it is so hot here. One thing we have been doing a few days a week is taking our dinner out to the pool and eating and swimming. I have a post coming up this week about it but for now here is one of my easy meals for a pool night that will not require you to turn the oven or stove on.
Food and Drink… I know I keep complaining about how hot it is but it is just SO hot. I am trying to keep my oven off as much as I possibly can so I am looking for cold recipes and things I can make in the crock pot. This is one of my go to recipes right now because I can make it and keep it in the fridge. Plus there is no mayo so it tastes great and is healthy!
Health… How many times have I talked about the importance of drinking enough water on here??? Well here is another water post. Drink water! It’s so important not to get dehydrated. Here are some recipes for fruit infused waters.
News… Losing Kate Spade and Anthony Boudain to suicide in one week was heavy to say the least. It is growing more obvious by the day that we have a large mental health issue in our community. I was glad to see that Kate Spade NYC is stepping up and trying to help. See more here.
Social… Northshore Parent is having their second Mom’s Night Out on August 18th. You can keep up with all of the details here.
Lifestyle… Are you someone who works from home? I have a lot of friends who have transitioned into teleworking positions that allows them to use their home office. You still are working that 9 to 5 but not coming into an office every day so what do you wear? These are some great lines that are filling the gap for people who are working from home.
Beauty… This is a personal tip and I will be walking you through this on my Instastory this afternoon too. So how do I care for a sunburn??? I am admittedly the worst about remembering sunscreen. I have gotten better this past year but I still end up burned now and then. A few year ago I came upon something that works miracles for a sunburn.
- Wipe the burned area with a cotton ball soaked in apple cider vinegar.
- Let the area dry completely.
- Cover the burned area in a mixture of coconut oil and lavender oil.
- Repeat as necessary 2 to 3 times a day.
