Family. I have been in search for the perfect sunscreen for years. Paxton’s skin is dark but he still needs sun protection and most traditional sunscreens make his eczema act up. We were recommended to try Blue Lizard a few weeks ago and I have been happy with the application and protection. Other sunscreens we have tried like this, zinc based, are too thick and don’t absorb into his skin. This one is easy to apply and doesn’t leave his skin white. At $15 a bottle it’s not cheap, but if you are looking for high quality sunscreen for anyone with skin issues this would be it.
Food and Drink. I made pimento cheese for the girls trip I went on last weekend. It is the perfect summertime snack or condiment. I love it on veggies, chips and even on the top of hamburgers and hotdogs. This is the recipe I have perfected over the least few years.
Tippy’s Pimento Cheese
8 oz softened cream cheese
8 oz extra sharp cheddar cheese (freshly grated)
8 oz Monterey jack cheese (freshly grated)
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 small jar of chopped pimentos drained
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
In a bowl combine softened cream cheese and mayonnaise with a electric mixer. Add spices and pimento and blend. Add cheeses. Cool for an hour before serving.
Health. What do you know about dehydration? I didn’t know a lot until I got dehydrated a few years ago when I was pregnant. Dehydration can be an issue at any point in the year but the summer is the worst. Make sure that you are drinking enough water but also know what to do if you become dehydrated. This is a great article on how to combat dehydration.
Social. Not sure what to do with the kids this summer? Join the Northshore Parent 75 days of Summer group on Facebook. They will have activities and ideas daily of things you can do in the house and things to get out of the house and things to just maintain your sanity.
News. The beautiful images from the royal wedding keep flooding my news feed on facebook. Everything was exquisite. Check out these photos by Harpar’s Baazar here.
Lifestyle. I am always up for a good challenge. The summer is also a time where I try to declutter and get rid of things we don’t need. This is a great 30 day minimalist challenge.
Home. I have so many ideas for our back patio. We live on a pond and the ideas are endless. I love all of these firepit ideas!
Beauty. I tried eyelash extensions two weeks ago yesterday. It was a beauty treatment that I had always wanted to try and I am in love with the results. Unlike false lashes that you attach yourself these are light and not irritating to my eyes. They should last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks and I will be keeping you updated on the process of getting them and maintaining them over the next few weeks. If you are looking for a place to try out this service check out WINK Your Eyes in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
