My mom taught me a lot about how to be a southern lady. One of the things that she always impressed upon me was the importance of thank you notes and hostess gifts.
When I am invited to a holiday party or a gathering during the holidays I love thinking of a special gift for the hostess. Hostess gifts don’t need to be expensive but they should be thoughtful or useful. Here are some of my favorite hostess gifts.
Homesick Candles – I discovered these last holiday season and bought several. I purchased all Louisiana but if your hostess was from another state this would be a great opportunity to give them a little piece of home.
Fleurty Girl – This is one of my go to places for hostess gifts and also a vendor who is featured in our Gift Guide. Lauren is the curator of all things fun and different and I never have a hard time finding something that makes me smile. A little something for the home is always a great option for a hostess gift. Like these coasters.
Andrea’s Vinyl Shop – One of our featured vendors from the We Five King’s Gift Guide. These champagne glasses would be the cutest gift for a Christmas Party with the girls. She also has options for New Years and Beyond!
NOLA Naturals – I just purchased several bath bombs, shower steamers and lip gloss packages at an event for teacher gifts. This is honestly the perfect gift to present your hostess with so she can relax after putting together a fabulous event.
Holiday Ornaments – An ornament to adorn your hostesses tree could be the perfect gift to make their day. Especially if you know your hostesses Christmas tree theme. I love having ornaments that remind me of someone of an event so this would be something I would cherish.
Cocktails – Making a basket of goodies and a recipe for your favorite holiday cocktail would be a beautiful gift for an adult event. Your hostess may even want you to make a cocktail of two to entertain the guests and have a little knowledge to go home with. Bring a few extra cards in case anyone else wants the details for your drink. (Photo Greet and Gather)
Food, Sweets and Treats – When in doubt give food. This is basically my mantra for life. I love gifting food. There are millions of ideas. Everything from peppermint bark to cookies to breakfast items to pralines.
Whatever you decide to gift your hostess with just make sure that it is thoughtful, useful and from the heart! Those are the things that make a gift precious to someone.
