It’s the last Sunday in September and the third official day of Fall. I am hoping that the month of October is going to bring us some cooler weather or at least lower humidity down here in the south because the last few weeks have been BRUTAL!
This week I am dedicating the skim to all things Fall!
Fashion… I am having a love affair with all the textured fabrics being used this season. Leather, Suede, Jacquard, Velvet. They all have my heart beating fast. I am currently having to resist the urge to buy all of these dresses…
Eliza J Print Velvet Shift Dress
Free People Counting Stars Mini Dress
Catrall Velvet Midi Dress – this one is on sale this week!
And Just because I wanted to create a link for an $8,000 dress…. Valentino Floral Velvet Gown
Social… Today is the Golden Lily Truck Show and it’s also a Shop and Share at Palm Village Mandeville – A Lilly Pulitizer Store benefitting the Junior League of Greater Covington. If you are local both of these events are a must this weekend! New Saturday is the Northshore Parent Mom’s Night Out and I will be Falmingiling with my BMF (Best Mom Friend) Amanda! On Saturdays we wear pink and you definitely want to sit with us!
Food and Drink…
Make this soup… You will not be sorry!
Family… My Mom made us a scavenger hunt / bucket list for Christmas one year and we actually did the same for out summer break this year. I thought it would be fun to make a list for the fall because my kids are 100% mine and love plans and goals.
- Visit a pumpkin patch
- Play on the lakefront on a windy day
- Make something pumpkin flavored (I am working on an idea for a pumpkin white hot chocolate)
- Rake fall leaves into a pile and jump in them
- Make homemade applesauce
- Go to the zoo
- Make pumpkin butter (we are actually going to have another fundraiser this year)
- Go to a Farmers market and make dinner with the things we buy
- Trick or Treating
- Take a night walk and look at Halloween decorations
- Have an outdoor movie night
Health… So it always seems like people are waiting for January to set resolutions and try to get their health in check. Last year I started in October and it was one of the best decisions I made. It helped me not only have a head start and good routine down before January but I cruised into the holidays looking fit and avoiding a lot of holiday weight I would normally have put on. I have learned a lot of things in my health journey but one of them that I am so happy about is trying new foods and new products. Sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in eating the same things and making the same things week to week. Getting healthy and writing my menus for my blog have helped me to get out and be adventurous. I have discovered so many new products over this last year, like Epic bars, that I would have just passed up before. It’s been a lot of fun to bring new things home not just for me but for Big Daddy and the Boys too.
So this last week we got our first, The Whole Box. What’s more fun than a subscription box that shows up at your door each month? I’ll tell you… a subscription box filled with whole 30 goodies for you to sample and try. I had been looking for a new non dairy, no sugar creamer and this months box came with one and I loved it. Big Daddy was also partial to the Wild Zora Bars and the boys ate all of the RX Bars before I could even get my hands on them. We are looking forward to getting our second box in October and I am sure there will be something for everyone.
News… Unfortunatley it looks like it’s going to be a warm fall. Holding out hope for the winter though. It would be nice to have a cold Christmas for a change. Check it out here.
