Fashion
I can’t stop thinking about fall. I have ordered several new pairs of boots and they are all just staring at me in the closet begging to be worn. I am about to just put them on and sweat because they are all so cute. I was talking with a friend the other day and she was asking about boots for this season so here are my five “you have to have these boots” boots…

Short Bootie with a Short Heel
A short bootie will work with jeans, leggings and casual dresses. This is going to be the most casual boot that you will own. I love this bootie for the shape and height but I also love that it is leopard print. I ordered a pair of leopard print boots the other day and I feel like I will wear them all the time because… leopard is totally a neutral…
Split Ankle Bootie
This bootie pairs with jeans, leggings and dresses. The thing I like about it is that you can dress this boot up slightly. It’s still not going to be a dress boot but it can be a good date night option or when you want to dress up jeans.
Over the Knee Boot
This boot can be sexy depending on what you are wearing it with. OTK boots are great to put with a mini dress or skirt but you can also wear them with jeans and leggings. They don’t work well with longer hem dresses to be ready to show a little leg if you are going to pair them with dresses. I chose to buy them with a shorter, blockier heel because I thought that they would be more practical as I am planning to wear mine with literally EVERYTHING.
Mid Calf Boot
Mid Calf boots can come casual or dressy. They work with jeans but they are in their glory with dresses. Seventies inspire midi dress with a mid calf boot and I will put all the praise hands on your Instagram.
The Dress Boot
The dress boot is a staple. If you have to choose between any of the boots in this post you need a casual boot and a dress boot most of all. I love that these are sheer (on trend) and mid calf (also on trend). They are super sexy even though they aren’t over the knee. They would work with dresses but also a cropped dress pant too. Love them!
Family
Football season is here and we are already starting to focused on all things game day in our house. I have scheduled a party for the first Sunday game the Saints have in September. Family parties are great for football season but sometimes it’s not so fun for the kids. So what to do? Here are some fun ideas for the kids to participate in…
Mascot Color Table
Most kids love to color and it’s an easy and fun project to get them interested in. Google is a great source for mascot and team logo free printable color sheets. Here is one for the New Orleans Saints.
Outdoor Obstacle Course
This is a great one if your party spills out into your back yard or patio. Especially because the dads can participate in the commercial breaks too. This can be super simple. Hula hoops, cones to run around, chalk lines can be drawn on the grass or patio to jump over, we also have soccer goals for kicking balls into. You can make it as big or small as you want to.
Cupcakes or Cookie Decorating
The bakery at our local grocery store is amazing about selling unfrosted cookies and cupcakes. They will also make you large containers of colored butter cream and then you can purchase additional toppings in your team colors.
Food and Drink
I had a Mommy and Me playdate this past week which is my favorite kind of playdate. A Mommy and Me playdate is when you REALLY like a Mom and you make your kids be friends so you can drink coffee and hang out. It’s kind of the best. I hosted this with my neighbor Karen and I made an easy peasey crustless quiche and she loved it so I thought I would share the recipe. Seriously it took me five seconds to make this.
Crustless Quiche
1 handful of spinach (I used frozen because it was what I had but you could use fresh too)
1/4 cup of feta cheese
1/2 onion caramelized
3 whole eggs
3 egg whites
3/4 cup lactose free half and half
salt and pepper to taste
In a greased pie pan (glass) layer the bottom with spinach, onions and feta. In a bowl combine whole eggs, egg whites and half and half. Top spinach with egg mixture. Bake for 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve hot.
Health
My family loves smoothies. Especially my kids. It is a great way for me to get their fruits and veggies in but also healthy things like plant based milk and oats. It even comes in handy when they are sick because if they don’t want to eat food they usually still want to drink a smoothie. I love being able to control the ingredients in my kids diets and smoothies are no different. I can make these smoothies as easily as I can take them to the smoothie shop so it’s a no brainer for me. I have been working my way through this list and all of them are delicious.
News
I think that everyone knows by now but there is a total solar eclipse on Monday (depending on where you live). In Louisiana we will have a partial eclipse where the moon will block out 76.5% of the sun. So dark but not total darkness. There are plenty of places that will be covering it since it isn’t safe to view without the proper eyewear. This website, here, will show you what the eclipse will look like in your area and what you can expect.
Have a great day! I am in baby shower mode so look for a post about that before the end of the week!
XO,
Tippy
