It’s officially August which means it’s starting to feel like summer is ending but the stores a full of Fall clothes. I am still not sure how I am supposed to be thinking about winter coats when it’s 90 degrees outside but the Fall makes me so happy that I am trying them on anyway.
After this week I will be transitioning most of my blog content to Fall and Winter so let me know if there is something that you want to see.
Fashion
This past week all of the stores really started the process of changing over their racks from summer to fall. August brings the heat but it also brings all of the fall trends. My eye keep popping at everything I’m seeing online and stores. These are my 5 must have trends for fall…
Blush. Love Blush. Can’t get enough of it. It is my favorite neutral in a world where pink is a neutral. Forget pink being the new black because blush is the new winter white. Leggings, jackets, jeans and shoes it’s all about that dusty, rosey shade of pink this fall.
Cutouts. The cold shoulder trend has been happening for several seasons now but this fall I am seeing cutouts in the mid part of the sleeve and at the bottom. This is a trend that every northern person should be jealous of because our mild winters lend themselves well to a cut out sleeve.
OTK Boots. Boots are always in style but each season the height varies. This season it’s super high and super low and mid calf. I am really excited about the OTK because they are great to wear with mini dresses, jeans and leggings all which are winter staples for me. The good thing about OTK boots is that you don’t need a lot of options. A good neutral boot will carry you through the season. I purchased these yesterday.
Floral. This is a trend carrying over from the spring and I’m not sorry about it. Give me all the florals from delicate to grandmas bedspread. I love it all. I just purchased a floral mini dress yesterday and I am so excited to wear it.
Sheer Layering. So this is a trend that I really want to try. We all have those dresses from spring and summer that are so cute and we would love to wear all year round but they are spaghetti straps or sleeveless and we need a little something on our arms. Sheer turtleneck body suits are the perfect fix for this.
Health
I found this workout on Pinterest and it suggests doing it at night but I have been doing it first thing in the morning or right after dinner. It was also a handy vacation workout for me while we were gone last week. It’s quick and dirty and you don’t need any weights to complete it. It’s great on it’s own but it would also be a good afternoon add on for workout days.
Food and Drink
I feel like I am pretty adventurous with what I make for the family to eat but breakfast is usually the rut I fall into. I feel like I am always running out of ideas and with boys who NEED to have protein in the morning I can’t just throw waffles into the toaster. These are a few things that I have been trying.
Yogurt Bowls
Whole Fat Greek Yogurt
Granola
Chia Seeds
Blueberries (or whatever is in season)
Raw Honey
Cinnamon or Vanilla or both!
Smoothie Bowls
2 Frozen bananas plus one fresh for garnish
1/3 almond milk
2 tbsp peanut butter
1/4 chocolate protein powder
Handful of Spinach
PB2
Granola
Chia Seeds
In the blender I add bananas, almond milk, spinach, peanut butter and protein powder and puree. All liquid to a bowl and top with bananas, PB2, Granola and chia seeds.
