Happy Father’s Day!
I want to start by wishing Big Daddy a vert Happy Father’s Day! He really is an amazing Dad and we would all be lost without him. He works hard all day so I can stay home and raise our boys and he is the reason I can live out my dream of writing this blog. There are many days he come home tired and frustrated and puts that all aside to play with our boys and help me with the nightly tasks of bath and bedtime. He is personally responsible for taking our family on an incredible health journey these last two years as well as renewing himself in his faith. We are beyond blessed to have an amazing leader in our home and I am proud to be on his team!
But even though it’s Dad’s day today sit back for a few and take a moment for yourself and catch up on the Sunday Skim!
Fashion
So I bought Big Daddy a bracelet for Father’s Day. It was one of those hit or miss gifts. I knew there was a 50/50 shot he was going to love it or hate it but I wanted to do something different so I bought it. He actually really likes it and it was much nicer than I thought it was going to be considering I bought it on Amazon.com. In case you re interested here is the link to the one I purchased. Also, I have had a few requests for Amazon.com shopping tips when it comes to ladies clothing. I am still working on the post and trying out brands but I was drawn to this one the other day and wanted to share. Paris Sunday has fun patterns and styles and great reviews! I really love the drop waist Maxi Dresses. I ordered a few pieces and will give you my full review in a few weeks. Until then these are some of my favorites…

New Book Alert! The Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth About Wheat, Carbs and Sugar. I have not started reading this yet but the feedback I am getting from my friend, Leslie, is amazing. I just bought it and if I can get some time next week I am going to read it.
Food and Drink
We usually buy Big Daddy a bottle of whiskey for Father’s Day. He loves to drink it a variety of ways but we both love a mint julep. I always thought they were more complicated to make but it’s very simple. Here is my basic recipe…
Mint Julep
2.5 oz of your favorite Bourbon (we like Woodford Reserve)
1.5 tsp powdered sugar
4 to 5 fresh mint leaves
2 tsp water
Mix ingredients in a shaker. Pour over ice and enjoy!
News
Our Congressman, Steve Scalise, was shot this week and remains in the hospital. He has already had multiple surgeries and is looking at a very long recovery. The Knight’s of Columbus are organizing a Nation wide blood drive to help replenish the blood he has had to use in the hospital but to also to turn this tragedy into a positive public statement. More information is available here. Continue to keep Congressman Scalise and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Family
So if you are anything like me (stressed out momma in the throws of summer who is a day late and dollar short on everything) than you had the best of intentions of doing something like this for Dad for Father’s Day but it just didn’t happen. No Fear! I am here to help. Let me tell you… It’s funny to read one of these however it is much funnier if you interview your kids over breakfast or lunch and have them answer you in person.
